ProSocial vs Poised (2026): train the habit before the meeting, or live feedback during it
Poised shuts down on October 8, 2026. If you ran it in every call to catch filler words and hedging, know this first: ProSocial gives no feedback during calls. It works on the same habits before the call, with out-loud rehearsal and voice analysis, and, with membership, after it, with a debrief with Dale.
The short answer
Poised gave you private feedback during Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls: filler words, hedging, conciseness, pace, and interruptions, on Mac and Windows, with Pro at $19 a month or $13 a month billed annually. ProSocial does not give feedback during live calls; Zoom and Teams are coming soon, with no date yet. If an in-call nudge is the part you cannot do without, Read AI’s meeting tools page says you can view talking speed and filler-word usage during the meeting, and Poised alternatives compares the options.
Dale is ProSocial’s AI people-skills coach, so you can rehearse at 10 p.m. the night before and repeat the sentence that keeps coming out wrong. Before the call, you say your point out loud in a voice role-play such as Speaking Up in a Meeting, and voice analysis shows your filler words, pace, pauses, and whether your voice stays steady under pushback. With membership, after the call, you tell Dale how it went, and a progress review turns that into your next practice focus. Email Audit, free once you connect email, catches the hedging in what you write.
ProSocial is free to sign up, with no card. Speak With Authority, $47 once and yours to keep, includes the Speaking Up in a Meeting role-play. Membership is $47 a month for every program and role-play.
Pick ProSocial if you want to fix filler words and hedging at the source: rehearsed out loud and measured before the meeting, then talked through with Dale after it.

The real difference is not the feature list
Poised told you, mid-sentence, that a filler word or a hedge had slipped out. By then the sentence was already said. ProSocial works on that sentence before you say it for real, and on what happened afterward, so the same slip shows up less often next week.
- The night before (membership). Connect Google or Outlook, and Dale helps you prepare for the meeting on your calendar: the one point you need to land, and the first sentence you will use to say it.
- Out loud (one program or membership). Rehearse in Speaking Up in a Meeting, where you raise a risk before your team lead moves on to assigning work. Voice analysis shows where you filled a pause, sped up, or lost steadiness, and you run it again until it comes out clean.
- The hedge itself (one program or membership). In High-Impact Communication’s pressured-ask role-play, the debrief checks whether your request ended level, with no upward lift or hedge.
- In writing (free to connect your email). Email Audit shows where you hedge or bury your point in emails you sent. The Charisma Coach Chrome extension, part of High-Impact Communication and membership, scores Gmail drafts for warmth and competence and suggests rewrites.
- After the meeting (membership). Tell Dale how it went, by text or live voice. A progress review turns your recent activity into your next practice focus.
ProSocial does not listen to the meeting itself. Everything it measures comes from your rehearsal, your writing, and what you tell Dale.
What you practice and how it’s scored
“Speaking Up in a Meeting” is a voice role-play set on a video kickoff call. Maria, your team lead, has finished an optimistic launch plan and is about to assign work, but you see a material risk. It builds Situational Radar, Strategic Clarity, and Emotional Regulation. It comes in Speak With Authority and Powerful Introverts, $47 once each, and with membership.
- Goal: “Raise a dissenting view clearly enough that Maria pauses the rollout, considers your concern, and agrees to a concrete next step.”
- Focus cue: “Speak early before the meeting moves into task assignments.”
- Focus cue: “Name the specific risk without attacking Maria’s leadership or enthusiasm.”
- Focus cue: “Pair the objection with evidence, timing impact, or a practical adjustment.”
- Scoring: the role-play is scored on the People Skills Index skills it’s tagged with, then you debrief with Dale. Voice analysis covers your pace, pauses, pitch, energy, filler words, and whether your voice stays steady.
For the spoken hedge itself, the debrief for High-Impact Communication’s pressured-ask role-play includes this check: “Stated the number, didn’t ask it.” Your sentence has to end level, with no upward lift or hedge. With membership, start from the role-play closest to your next meeting, and Dale sets it up with your situation: who it is with, what you need, and what you are worried about. See the example debrief on this page for what you get back.
What Poised is genuinely better at
- Feedback during live calls, until October 8. Poised shows you filler words, hedging, and pace privately during Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls.
- Price, while it lasts. Poised Pro is $13 to $19 a month. ProSocial membership is $47 a month, and one program is $47 once.
What ProSocial is genuinely better at
- Practicing the words out loud. Rehearse speaking up in a voice role-play where the other person pushes back. Voice analysis covers pace, pauses, pitch, energy, filler words, and whether your voice stays steady under pushback.
- A named check for the spoken hedge. In High-Impact Communication’s pressured-ask role-play, the debrief checks how your request ends: level, with no upward lift or hedge.
- Prep before and a debrief after. With membership, Dale helps you prepare for the meetings on your Google or Outlook calendar. Afterward, you tell Dale how it went, by text or live voice, and plan what to practice next.
- Hedging in your writing. Email Audit, free once you connect email, shows where you hedge or bury your point in emails you have sent. The Charisma Coach Chrome extension, which comes with High-Impact Communication or membership, scores Gmail drafts for warmth and competence and suggests rewrites.
- A course on speaking up. Speak With Authority, Vanessa Van Edwards’ assertiveness course, covers opening words, voice, presence, meeting participation, and requests, and includes the Speaking Up in a Meeting role-play. You can buy it on its own for $47 once, or get it with every other program and the People Skills Index in membership.

Dale“You spoke before task assignments, which was the right moment. You named the risk, but the evidence came after Maria had already heard a “no.” Next time, lead with the launch-date impact, then ask for ten minutes to look at it.”
- What worked
- Raised the concern early and stayed calm when Maria pushed back.
- Try next
- Open with the evidence and its timing impact, then make one concrete ask.

Questions
Does ProSocial give feedback during live calls?
No. Zoom and Teams are coming soon, and there is no date yet. Dale for Mac works with a selected Apple Messages conversation, not calls. Today ProSocial helps before the call with rehearsal. With membership, Dale also prepares you before the call and debriefs with you after it.
What happens after a real meeting?
With membership, you debrief with Dale by telling Dale how the meeting went, by text or live voice. ProSocial does not listen to your calls. Voice analysis of filler words and pace runs on your practice role-plays.
Does ProSocial catch hedging and filler words in speech?
In practice, yes. Voice analysis in voice role-plays covers pace, pauses, pitch, energy, filler words, and whether your voice stays steady under pushback. Spoken hedging is checked by name in High-Impact Communication’s pressured-ask role-play, where one criterion is that you stated the number instead of asking it, ending level with no upward lift or hedge. Email Audit, free once you connect email, shows where you hedge in emails you have sent.
Can I try ProSocial for free?
Yes, and no card is needed. A free account includes your first realistic situation, which Dale presents, and Dale’s feedback on it; connecting your calendar and email for feedback, including Email Audit of emails you’ve sent; and two free programs, the Conversation Archetype Quiz and How to Calm Someone Down, which has two voice role-plays. One program is $47 once: you get everything in that program, with Dale coaching you through it, and you keep it. Programs with role-plays have Dale set them up with your situation. Membership is $47 a month or $470 a year (two months free), cancel anytime: full coaching with Dale on your own meetings and messages, which means rehearsing your situations in any of the 171 library role-plays, preparing for meetings on your calendar, and debriefing afterward, plus every program and all 171 role-plays. Speaking Up in a Meeting comes in Speak With Authority.
Can ProSocial help a whole team?
Yes. ProSocial for organizations gives everyone the People Skills Index, Dale, guided practice, and role-plays, and lets leaders measure how people skills improve across the team. Coaching conversations stay private.
